A Vietnam Airlines passenger plane on Sunday made an emergency landing in HCMC a few minutes after take off because a flight attendant received a bomb threat.

The bomb squad and security staff of Tan Son Nhat Airport checked the plane and the passengers’ luggage for five hours, but no explosives were found. The flight resumed at 3:30PM to fly to Kuala Lumpur.

The airport security guards held the flight attendant for questioning.

A Vietnam Airlines official, Tran Tien Dung, said the flight attendant received the bomb threat on her cell phone and alerted the captain.

Police are searching for the sender of the message.

Dung said, the flight attendant violated security regulations by not turning off her cell phone on the plane.
