Background information and orientation
Quang Tri, a coastal province in the North Central Part of Vietnam, is bounded on the north by Quang binh, on the south by Hue, on the ưest by Lao PRD and on the east by the East Sea. The capital of Quang Tri is Dong Ha, which is 598 kilometres to the south of Hanoi and 1112 kilometres to the north of Ho Chi Minh City. Quang Tri is on the Trans-Asia route, which is an outstanding advantage for its economy to develope. Here also lies the well-known bridge -Hien Luong, once the demarcation line between North and South Vietnam during 20 years (1954-1975).

During the Vietnam War, each acre of Quang Tri land witnessed the scene of some of the bloodiest battles. Dong Ha, Quang Tri, Cam Lo, Con Tien, Camp Carroll, the Rockpile, Khe Sanh, Lang Vay, Doc Mieu, the Ashau Valley, Hamburger Hill- these names became almost household names in the USA.
Nowadays, on the land bearing heavy wounds of the aftermath of the war, Quang Tri people are pulling their weights to contribute their efforts to the public goals of building a much stronger and wealthier society. So, tourists pay visits to Quang Tri may find here not only an aspect of a dead land of war but also a portrait of the marvelous revival by human hands.
With a wide range of historic sites, Quang Tri’s tourism, although in its infancy, appears to have an upward trend of development and have drove a great number of visitors from neighbors and many countries who desire to realize their ambitions to have history more authentic in their minds. In addition, tourists may find here a place worth to spend their vacations with picturesque beaches, comfortable places to stay, great food and a number of exciting things to do, on and off the well-worn tourist trail to historic attractions.
Restaurant and bar listings
There are a number of eateries along National Highway 1 (Le Duan Street), which look rather run-down but the food is pretty good due to the fierce competition for the lucrative patronage of truckers.
Many restaurants in Dong Ha town serve great meals at reasonable prices such as Thanh Vinh Restaurant, Mekong Restaurant, Dong Truong Son Hotel and so forth.
Thanh Vinh Restaurant (Km2 Highway No 9) is one of the favourite places to eat with adequate space and many dishes to order. Customers may have a pleasing meal with US$3-US$5.
Dong Truong Son Hotel (Km3 Highway No 9) has its own restaurant, which was already chosen for the cuisine festival to take place. Dong Truong Son Hotel’s Restaurant have a diversified menu of dishes of many regions, which is intended to please the appetites of different sort of diners.
Mekong Restaurant, located on National Highway 1, is an easy-to-reach place to have huge meals which are not only tasty but also adequate to provide enough energy for tourists to continue their journey of discovering the hidden charm of Quang Tri – a heroic land.
